Hello & Welcome to Sassafras Healing Arts!
My name is cheré (rere) suzette bergeron. I am a healing arts practitioner located in Occupied Dakhóta + Anishinaabe Territory, otherwise known as Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I create medicine + magic for healing justice + collective liberation.
I am an Herbalist, Bodyworker, Doula / Companion, Traiteux (traditional Cajun healer) + aspiring Völva. My pronouns are they / them.
Co-Founder & Co-Director, SPIRAL Collective
Co-Founder, Herbalists for Racial Justice
sliding scale herbalism & flower essence consultations
full spectrum doula care
trainings & advocacy
My practice is based out of my home office. My approach is rooted in emergent strategy, disability justice, + healing justice. As someone with white settler ancestry & who identifies as a non-binary, queer, chronically ill witch, this means uplifting femme folks, queer & trans folks, sick, disabled, chronically ill folks, black folks, indigenous folks, & people of color as healers, as well as to center these communities in my practice.
I strive to bring my whole self to my clients & meet them where they are at, respecting their decisions, honoring their intuition, & working to co-create a container for them to see themselves as the powerful healers & magic-makers they are. I strive to bring an ethic of communal care to my practice, recognizing that we cannot "self care" our traumas away, & that we do not survive alone.
I started Sassafras Healing Arts in 2012 after many years of supporting myself with herbal medicine through a variety of health crisises. When a sweet friend of my told me that they loved the winter solstice salve I made for them so much that they wanted to get more from me for some of their beloveds, I decided to begin offering herbal medicine to folks in my community. In 2017 I began studying craniosacral bodywork + cupping therapy. I have been studying tarot, astrology, and ancestral healing since 2015. I work these divination practices into my work with clients as well as my medicine-making practice. I completed my training intensive + initiation into the practice of Death Midwifery in May of 2018.
